Unwanted Guests at ISS

Russian researchers studied population of space parasite microorganisms and suggested possible scenario of their development.

Space station is definitely an extreme environment for both human beings and hardware. That is why permanent monitoring of its interior, including microflora, is a necessary conditions for the station’s long and fruitful life.

During the long-term experiment researchers studied species composition of microorganisms, dwelling at most foul corners of ISS, and investigated biocorrosion properties of isolated organisms. Said organisms were delivered to Earth after ISS inhabitants collected samples in most probable places, where microorganisms can live.
